Live long, die young is a traditional Chinese saying that refers to the fact that most of us don’t want to die, but also none of us want to suffer. We would like to live a long healthy life— right up to the last moment.
Statistically, we know that we are living longer than ever before, but the question remains, will that statistic apply to YOU, and will you be enjoying those extra years or just holding on in a limited lifestyle?
Here are some interesting facts to consider.
How LOng Will you live
United States Is A Striking Example:
Even though the United States spends more money on health care than any other country, it only ranks at 54 for women and 49 for men out of 256 nations in life expectancy.
Obviously, it is not the amount of money that you spend on hospitals, medical devices and medications that create health. It is something else that often poorer countries or countries with rich traditions of living and eating achieve with less cost.
Americans Would Live Significantly Longer if Obesity Was Not Such a Problem
“Americans would be living six months longer today than they currently are if obesity had not increased as much as it has since 1991,” said Frank Lichtenberg, professor of business at Columbia University.
The culture of sedentary lifestyle, along with overeating junk and fast food is spreading globally.

This unhealthy trend is increasing throughout the world as the U.S. is exporting its eating habits of junk and fast foods globally.
Obesity is a Global Health Crisis!
Close to 500 researchers from 50 countries created the Global Burden of Disease report; they compared health data from 1990 to 2010 and found a massive shift in global health trends.
“We discovered that there’s been a huge shift in mortality. Kids who used to die from infectious disease are now doing extremely well with immunization,” said Ali Mokdad, co-author of the study and professor of global health at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington, which led the collaborative project.
“However, the world is now obese and we’re seeing the impact of that.”
Living a long and healthy life is what we want.  A prolonged life when it is not healthy in body and mind is not as appealing.
A simple 10 minute walk outside has been shown to have profound effects on the body.

What is it that creates a long and healthy life? These are my personal 6 essentials:
1. Good NutritionEat a healthy balanced diet. You will look good with clear skin and enjoy a healthy weight. The most obvious rule for good nutrition is simply to eat lots of vegetables.
When we question people how many fresh fruits and vegetables are in their fridge right now, most can only think of 4-6.  This is not enough.

2. Reduce Unhealthy Habits
This is obvious, but has to be mentioned. Stop smoking, of course, and reduce excessive alcohol consumption. You may know other parts of your life that don’t support health.
3. Quality SleepGetting enough sleep calms the nervous system, boosts the immune system, detoxes the brain, and helps you lose weight.
4. Keep Moving – Up Until the Last Moment
There is almost no health problem that has not been shown to benefit from proper regular exercise.

5. Make Time for Relaxation, Prayer or Meditation.
In the intensity and stress of modern living, we need a physical, emotional or spiritual center for peace and silence. In fact we could benefit from all three.
6. Breath Deeply – This will help with stress, sleeping, digestion and circulation. Read 13 Habits of Deep Breathing.
Let’s live a long life full of energy; a life that is enjoyed till our last day. I believe it is also important to never act old, to keep a sense of youthfulness at all times.
